چکیده
BACKGROUND The aim of the present study is to describe clinical correlates hypotension and its associated outcomes in patients with acute organophosphorus poisoning (AOPP). METHODS In this retrospective cohort study, we analyzed data pertaining 871 AOPP who were treated at two hospitals. Data from hypotensive non-hypotensive compared identify hypotension. We also evaluated association between parameters (including hypotension) in-hospital mortality. RESULTS incidence was 16.4%. Hypotensive showed significantly higher mortality (1.1% vs. 39.9%, P<0.001). Advanced age (odds ratio [OR] 1.25, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.08-1.44), history diabetes (OR 2.65, CI 1.14-5.96), increased white blood cell count 1.06, 1.03-1.09), plasma cholinesterase 0.91, 0.84-0.94), albumin 0.88, 0.85-0.92), serum amylase 1.01, 1.01-1.02), pH 0.64, 0.54-0.75) After adjusting for potential confounders, (hazard 8.77-37.06, depending on controlled variables). CONCLUSIONS Hypotension a common complication age, diabetes, changes laboratory patients.

Slow Repetitive Nerve Stimulation in Patients with Acute Organophosphorus Poisoning after Clinical Recovery
Background: Prolonged inhibition of acetylcholine esterase may lead to the intermediate syndrome. Neuromuscular junction (NMJ) dysfunction has been shown with repetitive nerve stimulation (RNS). Subclinical NMJ dysfunction may also occur. We aimed to examine the NMJ function following acute organophosphorus (OP) poisoning by using exercise modified slow RNS. Methods: A cohort study was conducte...
متن کاملOrganophosphorus poisoning (acute).
INTRODUCTION Acetylcholinesterase inhibition by organophosphorus pesticides or organophosphate nerve agents can cause acute parasympathetic system dysfunction, muscle weakness, seizures, coma, and respiratory failure. Prognosis depends on the dose and relative toxicity of the specific compound, as well as pharmacokinetic factors. METHODS AND OUTCOMES We conducted a systematic review and aimed...

متن کاملAcute organophosphorus insecticide poisoning in Sri Lanka.
Records of 92 cases of acute organophosphorus (OP) insecticide poisoning were analysed. Of the patients 91% were under 30 years of age and 86% were males. The common agents were Dimethoate, Methamidophos, Malathion, Monocrotophos and Fenthion. Poisoning was due to ingestion with suicidal intent in the majority. In addition to the acute cholinergic features, the other important manifestations we...
